St. Lawrence, 2011

This weekend at St Lawrence was a hot one for the dozen rigs that turned up but at least we didnt get the rain. The nature walk was overgrown in places, but there was no sign of waterlilies in flower, dozens of kangaroos and magpie geese greeted us in the morning, there was a huge 18th on in St Lawrence so everything closed up early on the Sat night, We farewelled Geoff and Anna on their travels with a lovely afternoon tea, Birthdays this month went to Doug S.. Welcome back to members Maxine & Dennis who now have a new rig. All the best and safe travelling,

JOE NASH 1925 – 2010

It is sad news that we have lost one our original members Joe Nash at the age of 85. Our sympathies go to Peg and their families, he was always well liked and a pleasure to be around, he will be missed by all of us, God bless.

Retreat Hotel, Dec 2010

A good roll up at the Retreat for the Sugarloafers Christmas party. An enjoyable time was had despite the weather. Rain overnight Sat and early Sun meant a wet meeting again. A delicious Christmas dinner was served by the hotel staff in the outdoor covered area. Former members Deidre and Gordon joined us from Maleny (they were also celebrating their wedding anniversary) so was asked to cut the Christmas cake made by Carmel. We also had our AGM and the new committee members were elected, Pres: Noel, Vice Pres: Sandra, Treasurer: Bill and Secretary: Carole, .Joan was the only one present who celebrated her birthday. Sorry to hear that other long time members, Joe and Peg couldnt make it this year from Townsville. All the best for the new year..

Lake Elphinstone, Nov 2010

A dozen rigs made the trip this weekend to Lake Elphinstone, it was a beautiful experience, the weather was great Friday & Saturday but started to drizzle Sunday and then kept drizzling and more drizzle, so we decided to cancel the meeting, pack up and head home. The speed boats kept us entertained through the weekend as well as the boaties searching hard for redclaw, most were outdone so we havent got any photos. The SES turned up for a practice run and bbq, the practice run went well but the BBq’s didnt work, so we loaned them some portable stoves and frypans, its nice to be able to help them for a change and not the other way around. As we are nearing the end of the year again, I would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a safe new year.

Boulder Ck, Oct 2010

This weekend at Boulder Ck was a sorry affair with only 8 rigs turning up, a lot of members put off by the rain but the ones that did turn up enjoyed a beautiful weekend. A few extra turned up for the meeting on Sunday and we caught up with friends of Mums from long ago, (its a small world sometimes). Klaus & Gaby dropped in on their way home from Cairns. The amigos are heading to St Lawrence for some time out, to everyone on the road, drive carefully and have a safe trip..

Pinevale, September 2010

A great weekend again at Pinevale, when 19 rigs made the journey. The weather was unpredictable but we made it home before it poured. Tremors were unusual and who needs an a alarm clock when you have cows chewing and mooing. Birthday wishes this month went to Desley, Vic & John (who celebrated his 80th birthday with a family gathering, lunch was mouth watering). Dick & Gail celebrated their anniversary. Welcome to new members Jan & Philip..
